• As Executive Director of the state's oldest private,
nonprofit environmental education organization, designed
and directed a series of informational milk carton side
panels dealing with the importance of wildlife to
Alabama and the South. The initial "Barber Dairies
Southern Wildlife Series" was so successful that Barber
Dairies commissioned a follow-up series, the "Southern
Ecology Series." Designed and created supporting
educational materials, including a Teacher's Guide and
the script for the award-winning "Southern Ecology"
video. Result: Reached a mass market with extremely
cost-effective educational materials and raised public
awareness. Increased the recognition and reputation of
the Alabama Conservancy (now the Alabama Environmental
Council).
• Won the contract for, and co-developed, the original
TraumaNet™ (now LifeTrac™) decision-support software for
the Birmingham regional trauma system. This software now
runs 24/7; for more information see
http://www.lifetractech.com/. Result: The American
Surgeon (Feb. 2002) documented lower mortality and,
among the most severely injured patients, shorter
lengths of hospital stay and lower costs after
implementation of the trauma system. Healthcare
Informatics (Feb. 2003) cites LifeTrac among the
emerging healthcare trends for national connectivity.
• As GIS Technician for a regional storm water
management authority, developed portable .Net / GIS
application for use by field inspectors. Co-developed
ASP/ASP.Net web version of Windows Source-Loading and
Management Modeling software (SLAMM). Designed custom
project management software for use by staff. Technical
liaison between GIS, Engineering, Education, and IT
departments. Solutions developer for various ESRI/Arc
